Abstract
Event publics are an empirical category that has hitherto remained untouched by the recent interest in the viability of a shared political public sphere at the European level. However, such event publics – understood as organized face-to-face encounters constituting concrete speaker-audience relationships – may turn out to play a relevant role in the construction of such a European public sphere.
