Demographic, Socio-Economic and Environmental Impact of AIDS in Rural Tanzania
(2008)- Abstract
- The paper forms part of the presentation of the results from a resarch projct looking into socio-economic and environmental aspects of the HIV/ADIS epidemic. The project focuses on Tanzania with a special refernce to Karagwe and Muleba districts in Kagera Region and Makete District in Iringa Region. In this report a more aggregate level is investigated, however. In demographic terms changes in important demographic measures - particuarly Dependency Ratios - that could be related to the AIDS epidemic are investigated in a spatio-temporal perspective. In addition changes in land use patterns in Kagera and Iringa Regions are looked at in an attempt to see if such changes could alos be related to the epidemic.
