Modified Absorption Theory

- Absorption is normally considered as comprising two separate mechanisms, viz. , adsorption and capillary condensation. One part of the water is assumed to be adsorbed, the other part capillary condensed. By means of a small modification to the BET-theory for adsorption, this theory can be made to describe the total absorption as one mechanism, where no difference is made between adsorbed and condensed water. The application of the modified theory to cylindrical and slit-shaped pores is demonstrated.
