Reference models for concurrent engineering implementation in individual, serial and mass production
(2016) 11th International Symposium on Tools and Methods of Competitive Engineering - TMCE'16 p.623-636- Abstract
- Application of concurrent engineering (CE) to product development process (PDP) has to consider the type of production (individual, serial, mass), product complexity and level of design: original, innovative, variation and adaptive. Systematic analyses of product development processes, workflows, data and project management, in various companies, has shown that specific criteria have to be fulfilled for CE to be managed well. The objective of this paper is to present reference models for application of CE in typical types of production. Beside reference models the case study for each type of production is presented. It will help production companies recognize weak points in their PDP and improve their implementation of CE. The impact of an... (More)

It will help production companies recognize weak points in their PDP and improve their implementation of CE. The impact of an individual criterion depends on specific requests of different types of production. A clear definition of the process and its organization is important for all product development (PD) phases. (Less)
