Pedestrian model application guidelines

Kretz, Tobias ; Meyer-König, Tim ; Ronchi, Enrico LU orcid ; Ruxton, Emmet and Saberi, Meead (2025) In Advances in Transport Policy and Planning 15. p.349-382
Abstract

Pedestrian modelling has made its way from a research topic – as presented and discussed in chapters 6 to 9 – to planning, design, and operational applications. This raises many questions on the best way to apply pedestrian modelling for different scenarios. To assist with that and to foster trust in the method of application, various guidelines and norms have been developed. In this chapter five of these are introduced in detail and some further guidance is also briefly summarized. The goal is to provide readers with an overview of the available means to inform the application of pedestrian modelling tools.
