- This article examines the role of equipment managers in Swe-dish male elite ice hockey. This is in relation to a major shiftin terms of professionalisation and commercialisation thathas occurred within elite ice hockey as a whole during thepast 40-50 years. The article themes are identified throughan investigation of how equipment managers are portraitedby the Swedish media.Additionally, in order to deepen the historical perspective,the article also features an interview with Anders Weiderstål, aformer equipment manager for Team Sweden. Said interviewis analysed according to theories of professionalisation and itreveals how both the daily work and the role within the teamhas changed.
