Utgravningene ved vestfronten av Nidaros domkirke : Del 1
(1997) In NIKU oppdragsmelding- Abstract
- This reports presents the results of an excavation conducted next to the west front of the cathedral in Trondheim. In all 11 phases of activity pre-dating the construction of the cathedral were recorded. The earliest features on the site are interpreted as representing part of a late 9th or 10th century farmstead. Thick deposits of soapstone chips are related to various phases of the buildning of the cathedral and also give some evidence regarding the dating of the western part of the north range of the Archbishop's Palace. The report further describes the post-medieval and modern usage of the area.
Included in the report is an osteological analysis of the skeletons recovered during the excavation.
