A practical guide to recording and analyzing jaw movements in speech research using MARRYS
(2025) FONETIK 2025 p.51-56- Abstract
- This paper provides a practical guide on how to effectively use the MARRYS helmet for recording and analyzing jaw movements in speech research. Rather than introducing the device itself, which has been described in detail in Gudmundsson et al. (2024), this guide focuses on the setup, data collection, and analysis workflows essential for successful experimental work. Applications include language learning, speech therapy, public speaking training, and phonetic research. Example findings demonstrate the utility of the device in capturing meaningful articulatory data related to speech prosody and clarity.
