This book fills a gap in the literature of modern law and religion. It also presents this field of Scandinavian law in an international context. Thus the book presents Nordic intellectual history as manifested in current scholarly work in the relationship between law and religion. Most of the Nordic thinkers on Christian law were learned and had studied at a European university at some time, but most of them studied theology, not connecting it with legal studies, as happened in many other regions of Europe.
