Abstract

Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of DNA helicase RecQL1 in cervical carcinoma and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN). Methods: The expression of DNA helicase RecQL1 were determined with reference to clinicopathological features and patient survival. 75 cervical carcinoma, 60 CIN and 20 normal control cases were collected for immunohistochemical analysis. Results: The expression rate of RecQL1 in the normal cervix, CIN and cervical carcinoma was 10.000%(2/20), 55.000%(33/60), and 74.700%(55/75), respectively, with a significant difference between them (P<0.05). In the 75 cervical carcinoma cases, the positive rate of RecQL1 in the cases with lymph node metastasis and negative lymph nodes was... (More)

In the 75 cervical carcinoma cases, the positive rate of RecQL1 in the cases with lymph node metastasis and negative lymph nodes was 89.300% and 63.800%, respectively, with a significant difference between the two subgroups(P<0.05). Among the 75 followed-up cervical carcinoma patients, the RecQL1+ and RecQL1- cases had an overall survival of (42.000±20.762) months and (115.990±13.593) months, respectively, with a significant difference between them(P<0.001). The multivariate analysis showed that RecQL1 expression, lymph node metastasis and tumor staging were independent prognostic factors. Conclusion: RecQL1 proteins may play important roles in the occurrence and development of cervical carcinoma. There is a close relationship between the expression of RecQL1 proteins and the prognosis of cervical carcinoma patients.
