It aims to highlight four different aspects for teachers in architecture, by presenting some of the major possibilities and pitfalls for the main theme of having group work from two levels students in one design studio. The investigation is based on approximately 30 interviews with the first and the second year students from mixed design studio students at Lund University. The students were asked about their opinions and experience of being in a mixed studio. The study shows that by educating first and second year students in one design studio could incjavascript:void(0);rease reflection on (individual and group) work done in studio; through collaborations, exchanges of knowledge, experiences between the different years, and different levels of knowledge. Also, it could enhance social learning through master-apprentice relationship between the students. Finally, the mixing years in one studio can prepare students better for the future situation of practice in an architectural office. This situation can offer dynamic environment in the studio that encourages students to grow as a person and develop an own identity within the discipline/ profession. (Less)
