Ansträngningsutlöst värmeslag gav svår lever- och njursvikt. Leverdialys med MARS prövades för första gången vid detta tillstånd
(2006) In Läkartidningen 103. p.2050-2053- Abstract
- We present a case of exertional heatstroke, uncommon in the Scandinavian climate zone. Despite early recognition and treatment, our patient underwent a complex clinical course with both renal and liver failure, requiring 4 months of hospital stay and a convalescens of more than a year. In previous reported cases of severe liver failure following exertional heatstroke, liver transplantation has been attempted and generally failed. Our patient instead recieved liver dialysis (MARS - Molecular Adsorbent Recycling System), a treatment not previoulsy used in this setting.
