Det verkar verka – om ett rätt nytt svenskt hjälpverb
(2007) p.254-263- Abstract
- The Swedish epistemic auxiliary "verka" 'seem to' has developed since the end of the 19th century from an active causative meaning 'have the effect', 'cause'. Its use with a main verb in the infinitive has increased in the latter half of the 20th century. The deveolpment is studied as a case of grammaticalization.
