Funding Information: The ?ational School for ?ilitary Chaplaincy (Ecole nationale de l’aumônerie militaire–ENAM64) set to train ?uslim military chaplains, opened in 2020 in the Parisian region, with the financial support of the Foundation of French Islam (Fondation de l’islam de France). Funding Information: Despite a large proportion of ?uslims in ?elgium holding ?elgian citizenship, links to the countries where their families came from remain strong, especially among ?uslims of ?oroccan or Turkish descent. The main umbrella organisation on the ?oroccan side is the Union of ?uslims in ?elgium (Rassemblement des musulmans de Belgique–RMB), which receives some financial support from ?orocco and usually welcomes imams, female religious guides, or morchi-dates, sent by the King Hassan II Foundation during Ramadan;31 none could come in 2020 due to the pandemic measures. Funding Information: should be turned into a museum.3 This proposal was in response to a controversial prayer organised by the Chief ?uftiate (Главно мюфтийство)– the executive branch of the official institution of ?uslims in ?ulgaria–the ?uslim Denomination (Мюсюлманско изповедание–MD)–to celebrate the recent reopening of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul as a functioning mosque.4 The re-conversion of the historical monument into an Islamic temple triggered other reactions by ?ulgarian institutions and politicians as well. For example, on 21 July, the ?ulgarian ?rthodox Church issued an official statement insisting that Hagia Sophia remains “a museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site”.5 ?oreover, the idea of Hagia Sophia remaining a museum was supported by ?ulgaria’s Foreign ?inister Ekaterina Zaharieva, who underscored that this historical site had universal religious and cultural significance.6 ?n 24 January 2020, in an official letter to ?ulgarian ?inister of Culture ?oil ?anov, the ?ulgarian ?rthodox Church rejected the proposal that some of its museum artefacts take part in an exhibition entitled “Arts and Cultures in ?ulgaria (16th–18th Centuries)”, to be displayed in the Islamic Department of the Louvre ?useum in Paris from late June to late ?ovember 2020 or early January 2021.7 The idea of such an exhibition provoked nationalist and wider public concern because, according to the French organisers, the Christian pieces of art from that period would “prove that in some of their decorative features these cult objects of the Christian faith are influenced by contemporary Islamic art.”8 Prof. Emanuel ?utafov, Director of the Institute for the Study of Arts at the ?ulgarian Academy of Sciences, stated that such an exhibition would not only convey flawed scientific notions but would also misrepresent ?ulgaria as “European Turkey”. Would the Republic of Greece represent itself in the Louvre with an exhibition dedicated to the influence of German culture over Greek everyday life and art in the period of the ?azi occupation (1941–44), asked Funding Information: – The Islamic Association of ?osniaks in Denmark (Den Islamiske Forening af Bosniakker i Danmark, Lisesmindevej 1, 5230 ?dense, tel.: ++45 35840732). The organisation has 13 local mosque associations. The association is linked to the Islamic Community in ?osnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, which is the main organising body for Islamic communities not only in ?osnia and Herzegovina but also the ?osnian diaspora. While ?osniak mosque associa-tions in Denmark tend to recruit their religious authority from the Islamic Community in ?osnia and Herzegovina, they are not funded by the ?osnian state nor the Islamic Community in ?osnia and Herzegovina. Funding Information: 1 Karel Černý is a sociologist who works at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University in Prague. He researches Czech and European ?uslims in a comparative perspective, having also had the opportunity to study Islam in the United States thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship (2012–13). He also focuses on ?iddle Eastern refugees, through the example of the Yazidis of Iraq, and on the structural causes of instability in the ?iddle East. This report is partly based on research supported by a grant from the Czech Science Foundation (20–24833S) for a proj-ect entitled “A Case Study of ?iddle-East Refugees: The Yazidis of Iraq”, conducted at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University in Prague. Zuzana Rendek is a doctoral student at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University in Prague. She studies General Anthropology and has long been engaged in research on the Prague ?uslim community. Her doctoral thesis is on the second generation of ?uslims in the Czech Republic. Funding Information: – The Isma ?uhammad Asad Private Comprehen-sive School (Isma Private Gesamtschule Muham-mad Asad, Reschgasse 20–22, 1120 Vienna)83 offers nursery school education as well as com-prehensive education for six-to-14-year-old stu-dents. It has been run since 2012 by the Isma Association, a self-governing body financed by a religious foundation. It was founded by the International ?rganisation for Science and Education (IOSE)84 and has its own curriculum with a comparatively strong focus on Islamic principles.
