Abstract
Many organists struggle with ergonomy in regard to posture. This paper presents the particular difficulties with organ-playing, views from different sources on the position of the back and how it can affect the musical flow of the performer, as well as how one can improve their posture over time. From here, an organ-specific strength training routine, as designed by H. J. Hawkins, was carried out, resulting in noticeably straighter body position on the organ bench in six weeks. Along with a continuous evaluation and an active focus on ergonomy, strength training was found to be an important tool for the posture. While the musical quality of my performances mostly relied on how much attention was directed to the organ playing, a connection... (More)

Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
