- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- This study examined the potential relation between young adult’s perceived
autonomy and job search self-efficacy. The study also examined whether the
relationships possibly differed by educational background or group of age.
Participants, 112 young adults (20-29 years) were recruited to answer a
self-report questionnaire. The questionnaire was introduced with background
questions (educational background, age and whether they had been in a job
search process during the past year) followed by self report statements with
Likert's scales (1-5) for autonomy and job search self-efficacy. The
participants' answers were analyzed through a descriptive analysis, regression
analysis, reliability analysis and CFA. The regression analysis... (More) - This study examined the potential relation between young adult’s perceived

participants' answers were analyzed through a descriptive analysis, regression
analysis, reliability analysis and CFA. The regression analysis presented that
there was a fairly strong statistically significant relationship between
perceived autonomy and job search self-efficacy (r = 0.579, <0.001). The result
showed that no statistically significant difference in the relationship between
perceived autonomy and job search self-efficacy was found based on
educational background or age. Furthermore the reliability analysis showed
that intern consistency was present in the measurement instruments: autonomy
(α = 0.827 ) and job search self-efficacy (α = 0.927). CFA presented yet that
the measurement instruments had low model fit for the data of the study which
potentially can be explained by age, culture, context or the translation of the
statements. Because of poor model fit, the relationship should be interpreted
with caution. This study should be viewed as an initial contribution for how
psychological constructions, as autonomy and job search self-efficacy are
associated. (Less)
