- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- Job satisfaction is a well-studied concept within work and organizational psychology, however, there is a lack of research on this topic within orchestras. The purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which team climate and self-leadership predict job satisfaction. The participants consisted of 126 musicians from orchestras across Sweden. Data were collected through web based questionnaires distributed to participants via contact persons in each orchestra and through SYMF, the Swedish Union of Professional Musicians. A correlation analysis showed a significant positive relationship between team climate and job satisfaction. The relationship between self-leadership and job satisfaction, as well as the relationship between... (More)

A correlation analysis showed a significant positive relationship between team climate and job satisfaction. The relationship between self-leadership and job satisfaction, as well as the relationship between self-leadership and team climate, were not significant. A multiple regression analysis supported hypothesis 1; a higher level of team climate will predict higher job satisfaction, and supported hypothesis 2; a higher level of self-leadership will predict higher job satisfaction. This thesis contributes to the research field by examining the relationships between these three variables within orchestras, an area that has not previously been studied. Furthermore, practical implications are proposed that may promote positive interpersonal relationships and effective collaboration in the workplace, as well as educational interventions regarding self leadership. Together, these measures may contribute to increased job satisfaction. (Less)
