Detta examensarbete undersöker hur resenärernas upplevda trygghet påverkas
när tåg passerar järnvägsplattformar i hög hastighet utan att stanna. Arbetet
utgår från att järnvägen används mer intensivt än tidigare, vilket skapar fler
situationer där resenärer väntar på plattformar samtidigt som andra tåg
passerar. Fokus ligger på samspelet mellan plattformens fysiska miljö, tågets
passage och resenärens upplevelse av trygghet.

Studien bygger på en litteraturgenomgång och en enkätstudie på utvalda
järnvägsstationer i Skåne. Totalt samlades 408 enkätsvar in från 14 stationer.

Detta examensarbete undersöker hur resenärernas upplevda trygghet påverkas
när tåg passerar järnvägsplattformar i hög hastighet utan att stanna. Arbetet
utgår från att järnvägen används mer intensivt än tidigare, vilket skapar fler
situationer där resenärer väntar på plattformar samtidigt som andra tåg
passerar. Fokus ligger på samspelet mellan plattformens fysiska miljö, tågets
passage och resenärens upplevelse av trygghet.

Studien bygger på en litteraturgenomgång och en enkätstudie på utvalda
järnvägsstationer i Skåne. Totalt samlades 408 enkätsvar in från 14 stationer.
Enkäten behandlade resenärernas resfrekvens, hur ofta de ser tåg passera i hög
hastighet, deras upplevda trygghet vid olika delar av tågpassagen samt tre
möjliga åtgärder: högtalarutrop, separata spår och skydd mellan plattform och
spår.

Resultatet visade att en majoritet av resenärerna uppskattade att de såg tåg
passera i hög hastighet minst en gång per resa. Ingen statistiskt signifikant
skillnad i upplevd trygghet kunde påvisas utifrån resfrekvens eller stationstyp.
Däremot fanns en statistiskt signifikant skillnad utifrån hur ofta resenärerna
såg passerande tåg, där resenärer som såg tåg passera mer sällan i genomsnitt
hade högre upplevd trygghet.

Oväntade tågpassager och trängsel nära spårområdet låg på den otrygga sidan
av skalan, medan fysiska effekter som vinddrag, buller och synintryck i
genomsnitt upplevdes som mindre otrygga. Samtliga tre åtgärder bedöms
kunna bidra till ökad trygghet. Separat spår samt fysiskt skydd mellan
plattform och spår fick något högre stöd än högtalarutrop. Åtgärdernas
relevans bör förstås utifrån hur de fungerar i den konkreta stationsmiljön.
Fysiskt skydd mellan plattform och spår framstår som särskilt relevant att
undersöka vidare, eftersom åtgärden kan skapa en tydligare fysisk gräns mot
spårområdet utan att kräva lika omfattande förändringar som separata
genomfartsspår. (Less)

This thesis examines how passengers’ perceived safety is affected when trains
pass railway platforms at high speed without stopping. The study is based on
the fact that the railway is used more intensively than before, creating more
situations where passengers wait on platforms while other trains pass. The
focus is on the interaction between the physical platform environment, the
train passage and the passenger’s perceived safety.

The study is based on a literature review and a questionnaire survey at selected

how often they see trains pass at high speed, their perceived safety during
different parts of the train passage, and three possible measures: loudspeaker
announcements, separate tracks and protection between the platform and track.

The results showed that a majority of the passengers estimated that they saw
trains pass at high speed at least once per trip. No statistically significant
difference in perceived safety could be identified based on travel frequency or
station type. However, there was a statistically significant difference based on
how often passengers saw passing trains, where passengers who saw trains
pass less often had, on average, higher perceived safety.

Unexpected train passages and crowding near the track area were on the
unsafe side of the scale, while physical effects such as draught, noise and
visual impressions were, on average, perceived as less unsafe. All three
measures are assessed as being able to contribute to increased safety. Separate
tracks and Physical protection between the platform and track received
slightly stronger support than loudspeaker announcements. The relevance of
the measures should be understood based on how they function in the specific
station environment. Physical protection between the platform and track
appears particularly relevant for further investigation, as it can create a clearer
physical boundary towards the track area without requiring changes as
extensive as separate tracks. (Less)
