Dynamic test script generation for test and verification in continuous integration
(2026) EITL05 20261Department of Electrical and Information Technology
- Abstract
- Complex software must be tested carefully. This thesis looks at how automated testing can be improved for Alstom’s Radio Block Centre, a system that supervises trains and sends movement authorities. The work focuses on three practical ways to improve an existing automated test setup. First, it studies how the test suite can be made more dynamic by introducing randomness into current test scripts. This is done by changing train length, which is normally fixed in the existing tests. Second, it develops a template-based method for generating movement authority tests from site data. Third, it defines a workflow for checking whether documented minimum and maximum values for user-configurable parameters are included in the existing test scripts.... (More)

The results show that random variation of train length can expose hidden assumptions in test scripts. They also show that route-specific tests can be generated from site data and that missing boundary-value tests can be found in a structured way. These methods show that the test suite can be made more dynamic, while also providing Alstom with ways to improve coverage in the existing test environment. (Less)
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
