Kreativitet och långtidsminne: samband och demografiska differenser
(2012) PSY142 20112Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
- Abstract
- The process of creativity and long term memory are to some extent functionally interdependent. The question is how strong the relation between these processes are; if an individual possesses a high creative ability, does the individual also then usually have a high long term memory capacity? The purpose of this study was to test this in practice and highlight any instances of demographic differences associated with creativity, long term memory and the relationship between them. A broad group, in terms of age and educational level, consisting of 51 participants (18 women and 33 men) was tested using a long term memory test (paired-associates) and two creativity tests (Alternative Uses Task for test of divergent thinking, and TCT-DP). No correlation between long term memory and creativity was found for the group as a whole, but for the age group 40-62 years the relationship correlated significantly. In addition, a significantly negative correlation was noted between creativity (except divergent thinking) and age and also between long term memory and age. University/college-educated participants showed significantly better results in creativity (except TCT-DP) than participants with only a high school diploma. Women performed slightly better on creativity tests than men. (Less)
