Abstract
In this study the Swedish democratization process is being examined with the help of three modern democratization theories. In order to find out which modern theory best can be applied to the Swedish case two Swedish books, covering the time of interest are being examined. They do, however, provide us with usable tools when examining processes such as the Swedish democratization. The question is also asked, whether the two books differ in their stories about the historical events. My conclusion is that this is not the case. On the contrary, they do seem to provide us with a consistent picture of the historical events that led to the breakthrough of parliamentarism, and the first Swedish general election. (Less)
