(2015) UNDK01 20151Department of Political Science
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- This paper deals with the two analytical methods devil's advocate and critical thinking and its relevance to avoid biased analysis. Through a comparison of the two methods its intention is to clarify the similarities and differences, and whether there are two different methods or only variations on the same theme. The purpose is to describe how well the two methods contributes to better intelligence analysis and thus to a better basis for decision-makers. The result is that there is evidence to claim that the devil's advocate and critical thinking is the same method with different names depending on when in analysis the method is used, continuously throughout the analysis or afterwards when the preliminary results of the analysis exists.... Nor is it possible at claiming that the methods, when used contribute to a corruption-free analysis. The possibility for that increase, but none of the methods is unobjectionable as tools to a fair and corruption-free analysis. (Less)
