- Abstract
- ISO 14001 is the most commonly used international standards for implementation of environmental management systems and is embraced by businesses for managing environmental issues. A new revision of the ISO 14001 standard was introduced 2015. Companies that have been certified according to the older version of the standard have three (3) years to adapt to the new version of the standard to maintain the certification. The report aims to investigate the differences between ISO 14001: 2004 and ISO 14001: 2015. Focus will be to identify the challenges that companies will face to adapt to the new version. - ISO 14001 is the most commonly used international standards for implementation of environmental management systems and is embraced by businesses for managing environmental issues. A new revision of the ISO 14001 standard was introduced 2015. Companies that have been certified according to the older version of the standard have three (3) years to adapt to the new version of the standard to maintain the certification. The report aims to investigate the differences between ISO 14001: 2004 and ISO 14001: 2015. Focus will be to identify the challenges that companies will face to adapt to the new version. In the report three (3) methods was applied, literature analysis, questionnaire survey and situation analysis (gap-analysis). The investigation concludes that the new version requires seven (7) major adaptations to successfully fulfill the difference for re-certification. These changes will impact business differently depending on the design of their presently used management system. Advantages and disadvantages of implementing the new version relates to multiple factors, but most essentially, on the organizations commitment and attitude. An organization must realize that it will be a considerable effort which will require time and manpower to successfully implement ISO 14001:2015. This is stated even though the standard is very well developed. For a business to achieve ISO 14001:2015 a diligent business investigation is recommended and a careful planning for implementation should be performed. (Less)

Många känner till att miljön och klimatet på vår jord förändras men hur många är medvetna om att flera företag använder sig av miljöledningssystem enligt ISO 14001 för att tackla sina miljöfrågor? Visste du att, för varje år som går så ökar antalet certifikat enligt ISO 14001 runt om i världen och att det i Sverige finns cirka 5000 företag som är certifierade enligt ISO 14001? Det är därmed väldigt viktigt att undersökningar och studier inom området utförs.
Rapporten tar reda på skillnaderna mellan nuvarande- och nya versionen av miljöstandarden med dess tänkbara fördelar respektive nackdelarna för att underlätta och ge tips till företag som är certifierade enligt ISO 14001. Detta görs med hjälp av tre metoder som är litteraturanalys, enkätstudie och nulägesanalys i form av en gap-analys. På samma sätt som hockeyspelare behöver tacklas för att behålla pucken, måste du som företagare tackla utmaningarna med att implementera nya versionen av ISO 14001 för att få behålla din certifiering. Det kommer att krävas blod svett och tårar från din sida, varierande beroende på vilket engagemang och hur välutvecklat miljöledningssystem du har. Rapporten ger en inblick för dig som företagare hur en implementering på ett företag kan se ut samt lite tips på vad du bör göra.
Fördelarna respektive nackdelarna med att implementera den nya versionen av standarden är olika beroende på en mängd faktorer men framförallt beroende på ditt engagemang och din inställning. Det är sju större förändringar med den nya versionen och dessa förändringar påverkar ditt företag olika beroende på hur ert tidigare miljöledningssystem är utformat. Som företagare ska du vara medveten om att det kommer att ta tid och arbetskraft för att implementera den nya versionen, trots att miljöledningssystemet är välutvecklat. Det kommer att innebära att du grundligt går igenom din verksamhet och att du tar reda på vad den nya versionen av standarden innebär för ditt företag.
