Abstract (Swedish)
Denna uppsats analyserar The Rush Limbaugh Show och den konservativa rörelsen i USA. Med hjälp av en framinganalys försöker uppsatsen rama in tre amerikanska populistiska åsikter i The Rush Limbaugh Show. (More)

Med hjälp av en framinganalys försöker uppsatsen rama in tre amerikanska populistiska åsikter i The Rush Limbaugh Show. (Less)

This essay analyses The Rush Limbaugh Show and the conservative movement in America. The purpose of the essay is to deeper understand the conservative movement, their cultural values and the problems they think America is facing today. This is done by analyzing one of the biggest radio talk-shows in America, The Rush Limbaugh show, which is hosted by the famous conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh. By using a framing analysis method the essay tries to frame three american populist views in the Rush Limbaugh show. The three themes that were chosen was feminism, establishment and rasism, because they are three head components in a right-wing populist framework, which is the essays theoretic approach. According to Limbaugh feminism is a threat against individualism and something the establishment uses to make a cultural shift in traditional american values. The establishment is the cultural wealthy elite whose background and status separates them from the rest of the people. Finally, rasism is found in the underlying rhetoric about illegal immigrants and their criminal behavior in combination with their bad level of education. The essay finds a correlation between the views of Rush Limbaugh and the conservative movement, which symbolizes the problems in american politics of today. Many americans believe that there is a gap between the ”people” and the ”elite” which creates an opposition against the establishment and everything they stand for. (Less)
