Trygghet, studiero och musik. Musikelevers ord om vad de behöver för att känna trygghet och studiero på gruppundervisningen i musik på gymnasiet

Abstract (Swedish)
Orden trygghet och studiero återfinns i Skollagen (SFS: 2010:800). Som en elev som inte kände trygghet under min egen skolgång och nu med en ämneslärarutbildning i musik i ryggen har mitt fokus hamnat på lärarens uppgift och möjligheter att skapa trygghet och studiero för elever, och mer specifikt för de elever som jag kommer undervisa i musik. Med den ingången är studiens syfte att undersöka vad gymnasieelever som läser musik behöver för att känna trygghet och studiero under sin musikundervisning, hur de upplever undervisningen de får idag och vad de upplever att deras musiklärare gör för att verka för trygghet och studiero under musiklektionerna.

Orden trygghet och studiero återfinns i Skollagen (SFS: 2010:800). Studien använder de kvalitativa och visuella metoderna fotoelicitering och semistrukturerad intervju. Studiens resultat visar att elevernas behov av att känna trygghet och studiero är starkt och att de har en tydlig bild av hur det behovet ska uppfyllas. Eleverna önskar att deras musiklärare tar ansvar för den psykiska miljön i klassrummet och för strukturen i och omkring undervisningen. (Less)

The words trygghet and studiero (to feel secure and have peace and quiet to study) can be found in the Swedish education act. During my own school years I was bullied and felt unsafe. I now have a master of education in music and my focus has shifted from a student’s perspective to a teacher’s perspective. With this study I therefore want to focus on how teachers can create a peaceful and secure environment for their students, and more specifically the students I will be teaching music to. With this in mind, the aim of this study has been to investigate what students in upper secondary school who study music need in order to feel safe and have a peaceful environment to learn in during their classes in music, how they feel about the music... I now have a master of education in music and my focus has shifted from a student’s perspective to a teacher’s perspective. With this study I therefore want to focus on how teachers can create a peaceful and secure environment for their students, and more specifically the students I will be teaching music to. With this in mind, the aim of this study has been to investigate what students in upper secondary school who study music need in order to feel safe and have a peaceful environment to learn in during their classes in music, how they feel about the music education they have today and what they find are their music teachers’ strategies for enabling a safe and peaceful environment in the music classroom.
The study uses a qualitative and a visual method: semistructured interview and autophotography. The study’s results show that the students’ needs for a safe and peaceful study enviroment are strong. They also have a clear sence of how they want that need to be met. The students want their music teacher to take responsibility for the mental environment in the classroom and for the structure in and around the lessons. (Less)
