(2018) MUHN67 20171Malmö Academy of Music
- Abstract (Swedish)
I diskussionskapitlet diskuteras resultaten.

- While it can be argued that learning music by ear is an essential and important element of modern choral practice in Sweden, it is a subject area that is widely ignored in music teacher training programs and higher music education generally. Furthermore, there has been relatively little research in Sweden on choral learning-by-ear practices.
This study investigates what methods choral directors use when teaching choral music by ear. Four choral directors have participated with interviews, with choral rehearsals and furthermore with conversations about actions during the rehearsals. This study investigates what methods choral directors use when teaching choral music by ear. Four choral directors have participated with interviews, with choral rehearsals and furthermore with conversations about actions during the rehearsals. The theoretical framework has its base in social-cultural theory, mainly discussing the concept social interaction. Progressive thoughts concerning distributed resources and the didactical triangle was considered particularily relevant for the purpose of this study.
The study found that participants used teaching methods that could be categorized into ten types of methodical considerations. Findings reveal the need for future research within this field and suggest certain areas of particular interest. (Less)
