Instudering och utmaningar - Instuderingen av nya stycken musik och utmaningar som inträffar.

Abstract

As a musician, the study of a new piece of music is something that we will have with us throughout our whole lives. Preparing something new can at times feel daunting if it has major challenges that we do not feel comfortable with and in some cases make you get stuck in a circle of frustration that can be difficult to get out of.

Throughout my years as a guitarist, I have often felt that some pieces of music are too difficult for me because I lack in some aspects of my playing. This has meant that sometimes I have not dared to pick up these pieces and study them seriously. With my work, I have investigated how I find a way forward with pieces that I had not previously thought I could play because of their challenges.

In my logbook I have documented my studying of the music and with this written work I tell about my study process. I have also attached videos and edited scores that supplement the text. I describe my challenges and how I have solved them with different methods such as slow exercise, fingering and practice mentality. The result showed that through thorough practice I was able to play music on an advanced level in a reasonable amount of time and that it was important to relate myself to what kind of difficulties I was having. In my conclusion I found out how important it is to take these challenges with a positive attitude and how they make us grow as musicians.

Som musiker är instuderingen av nytt stycke musik något vi kommer att ha med oss genom våra hela liv. Att förbereda något nytt kan till tider kännas skrämmande om det har stora utmaningar som vi inte kännas oss bekväma med och gör i några fall att man fastnar i cirkel av frustration som kan vara svår att komma ut ur.

Genom mina år som gitarrist har jag ofta känt att vissa musikstycken är för svåra för mig eftersom att jag saknar vissa aspekter i mitt spel. Detta har gjort att jag ibland inte har vågat att ta fram dessa stycken och instudera dom på allvar. Med mitt arbete har jag undersökt hur jag hittar en väg fram med stycken som jag förut inte hade tänkt att jag kunde spela på grund av deras utmaningar.

I min loggbok har jag dokumenterat min process med instuderingen av musiken och med detta skrivna arbete berättar jag om min instuderingsprocess dessutom har jag också bifogade videor och redigerade noter som supplerar texten. Jag beskriver mina utmaningar och hur jag har löst dom med olika metoder så som långsam övning, fingersättning och övningsmentalitet. Resultatet visade sig att genom grundlig instudering kunde jag spela musik på en avancerad nivå på rimlig tid och att det var viktigt att förehålla mig realistiskt till vilka sorts utmaningar jag hade. I min slutsats kom jag fram till hur viktigt är att man tar dessa utmaningar med en positiv inställning och hur dom gör att vi växer som musiker.
