- Abstract
- The main purpose of this paper is to investigate how the new railway line, Malmöpendeln, can break the segregation and improve integration in the city of Malmö. The subsidiary aim with the essay is to further investigate if Rosengård station can lead to a positive urban development and improved integration. The underlying methodology have been document analysis and semi-structured interviews. The theoretical framework addresses previous research related to integration and segregation with a focus on public transport and accessibility. The phenomenon of social mix is also described. The station in Rosengård can lead to a better reputation in the area but there are more effective initiatives if you want to improve integration. Investing more directly on welfare is seen as a more effective way. If the Malmöpendel is to be seen as a successful project, the social efforts must succeed. (Less)
