The results revealed both positive and negative impacts of the Chinese FDI. Such mixed findings suggested that 1) there is still a lot of work to do for Cambodia to become sustainably developed through the Chinese FDI, and 2) it is too early to conclude that China acts as the colonizer of Cambodia despite the fact that some neocolonial patterns were found considering that Cambodia also reaps benefits from the Chinese FDI.
