The interviews involved the students' motivation to develop their musical ear and knowledge of music theory, their belief in their own ability and their appreciation of the concerned abilities. The study showed... (More)

The interviews involved the students' motivation to develop their musical ear and knowledge of music theory, their belief in their own ability and their appreciation of the concerned abilities. The study showed that the students were primarily driven by an intrinsic motivation to develop their musical ear and knowledge of music theory. A sense of belonging, autonomy, a belief in their own ability as well as a dynamic mindset, promoted the students’ intrinsic motivation to develop the concerned abilities. The students also appreciated their musical ear and knowledge of music theory, which in turn led to an increased intrinsic motivation to develop the concerned abilities. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
