- Performance measurement has been on the agenda for decades with the purpose of helping organizations understand their organizational progress or lack thereof. However, measuring performance can be complex and result in a waste of resources rather than benefits. The aid sector is characterized by complex stakeholder structures, including volunteers, offshore partners and donors that all affect the measuring of performance. This increases the risk of performance measurement resulting in burdens for the organization instead of benefits.
