Arkitektur som instrument i landskap
(2020) AAHM01 20201Department of Architecture and Built Environment
- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less) - Abstract
- My degree project has been an explorative process in how architecture relates to the landscape and its nature. The result of my work is an example in how my approach could adapt to a place with certain given conditions. The example is portrayed as a gallery and café whose architecture follows and exhibit the subtle changes and transitions in the landscape and surrounding nature.
The location of this degree project is Bergdala, also called Lilla Stenshuvud, a beautiful agricultural and natural landscape just south of Kivik. The two businesses active on the site are Bergdala Jordbruk AB, an agriculture farm, and Kivik Art Centre, an art institution focusing on the interface between architecture - nature - art. They have coexisted for several years and together they have created a unique place for combined nature and architecture experiences. The site is interesting as it possesses an atmosphere allowing an explorative approach for architecture in a sensitive nature and agricultural environment.
Throughout the process I’ve always tried to design to allow the two businesses to connect. In order to develop the collaboration between the two, both of their interests need to be taken into account. A part of my process has been me trying to reflect the nature of the agricultural landscape through the architecture and bring forward the values of the site. (Less)
