Jordlagerföljden i Höjeådalen utifrån nya borrningar

- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- The distribution of different Quaternary deposits in southwestern Scania is a result of complex glaciation and deglaciation patterns during the Weichselian, with especially thick deposits in the Alnarp Trough and the Lund Valley. The deposits and their glacial origin have been extensively discussed in the literature. The region’s surficial deposits are relatively well documented, but uncertainties remain regarding the deposits at larger depths. In Höje å Valley, just south of Lund in the transition zone between the Alnarp Valley and the Lund Valley borehole data produced by contractors have been investigated and further processed into a cross-section profile. Previous models describe the Quaternary stratigraphy in the Höje å Valley... (More)

In Höje å Valley, just south of Lund in the transition zone between the Alnarp Valley and the Lund Valley borehole data produced by contractors have been investigated and further processed into a cross-section profile. Previous models describe the Quaternary stratigraphy in the Höje å Valley characterized by two separate till units with interbedded and underlying glacifluvial sediment, together with unspecified deposits at larger depths. The cross-section, which is based on several compiled stratigraphic columns, provides increased insight into the local Quentenary stratigraphy. The results have been compared with previous models and observations investigating the contact between the till beds and the glacifluvial sediments, contributing to a better understanding of glaciation and deglaciationprocesses in the area. Along the cross-section, till directly overlies the limestone bedrock under Höje å. Adjacent deposits, previously described as unspecified, consists of clay-rich sediments, indicating deposition in water. Layers of sorted sandy sediments occur in the stratigraphy. Borehole protocols along Höje å show sandy deposits with varying thickness that could be glacifluvial sediments. Overall, the stratigraphy indicates a change in environments during the Late Weichselian deglaciation. (Less)
