- Studien ”Varför sjunger du? - En kvalitativ studie om målsättning och drivkraft hos elever med funktionsvariationer” är en kvalitativ intervjustudie där målet är att utforska elever med funktionsvariationer och deras motivation till att utvecklas inom sång och musik. Varför sjunger de och hur jobbar deras pedagoger med att ta reda på elevernas mål och även nå sina egna undervisningsmål? Eleverna i studien är mellan 20 och 25 år gamla och går eller har gått en eftergymnasial utbildning med musik-, bild-, och teaterinriktning för personer med kognitiva och intellektuella funktionsvarianter. - Studien ”Varför sjunger du? - En kvalitativ studie om målsättning och drivkraft hos elever med funktionsvariationer” är en kvalitativ intervjustudie där målet är att utforska elever med funktionsvariationer och deras motivation till att utvecklas inom sång och musik. Varför sjunger de och hur jobbar deras pedagoger med att ta reda på elevernas mål och även nå sina egna undervisningsmål? Eleverna i studien är mellan 20 och 25 år gamla och går eller har gått en eftergymnasial utbildning med musik-, bild-, och teaterinriktning för personer med kognitiva och intellektuella funktionsvarianter. Intervjuerna kom att handla om hur de tre informanterna tycker om att stå på scen och att de gillar att sjunga för släktingar och vänner. De blir uppmuntrade av beröm och positiv feedback och deras självförtroende växer när de klarar av allt svårare sånger. De uttrycker alla en genuin kärlek och tacksamhet för att de har musik i sitt liv. Pedagogerna poängterar vikten av att inte ge upp i undervisningen av dessa elever och delar också med sig av tankar kring att många problem som individer med funktionsvariationer har grundar sig i bristande bemötande från samhället. De vill se en större kreativitet hos lärare och mer tilltro till alla elevers förmåga att uttrycka sig musikaliskt. (Less)

(More) - The study “Why do you sing? – A qualitative study regarding the goal setting and drive among students with functional varieties” is a qualitative interview study with the aim to explore the motivation of students with different functional variations/disabilities when it comes to developing their singing and musical skills. Why do they sing and how do the teachers work with finding out the goals of the students as well as reaching their own educational goals? The students taking part in the study are between 20 and 25 years old and enrolled in a post-secondary program for students with cognitive and
intellectual functional varieties. The program has a music, art, and acting focus. The interviews revealed that the three student informants like being on stage and performing in front of friends and family. They are boosted by praise and positive feedback and their self-confidence grows when they can sing more difficult songs. They all express a genuine love and gratitude for having music in their lives. The teachers stresses the importance of not giving up when teaching these students and they also share their thoughts about the problems people with functional variations face in life and how these are mostly connected to how society treats this group of individuals. They would like to
see greater creativity among teachers and more faith in the ability of all students to express themselves musically (Less)
