Abstract
The norm critical perspective aims to make visible the norms that influence the planning of snow removal in Sweden. Norms are everywhere around us and can only be challenged if first they are made visible. As previous research has focused on the technical implications of snow removal this essay aims to bridge the gap between the technical and the social aspects of snow removal. By conducting a case study of two Swedish municipalities through semi-structured interviews this essay presents social norms and how they are reflected in the planning and prioritization of snow removal. The result of the essay presents a variety of norms that are reflected in how municipalities prioritize their snow removal. It is shown that the municipalities challenge some norms but that the majority of the reflected norms are not made visible by the municipalities and are therefore amplified. (Less)
