Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
In light of the syllabus concerning film and video game music in the music subject at Swedish compulsory school level, an interview study was conducted. The purpose of the study was to investigate how five active music teachers in compulsory school use music from films and video games in the classroom to teach about music as a meaning-making expressive form. Five semi-structured interviews were conducted in which the teachers were asked to share their experiences of using film and video game music in their teaching. A holistic analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The results of the study suggest that teachers primarily incorporate film and video game music into digital creation, but also in other areas of the music subject.... (More)

The results of the study suggest that teachers primarily incorporate film and video game music into digital creation, but also in other areas of the music subject. Furthermore, the study indicates that film and video game music in teaching creates relevance for students, which may lead to students’ increased interest in the music subject. However, time constraints and limited resources for digital tools can hinder the effectiveness of the teaching. Implications and suggestions for further research are presented. (Less)
