A decade in the making since the signing of the Jakarta Commitment and Indonesia’s initial intent and plea for assistance to development partners to aid its establishment, Indonesian AID seems to be administering the practices Indonesia has developed for decades in the form of South-South Cooperation and provision of humanitarian assistance in a fairly centralized manner and with relatively larger and constantly increasing budget. This thesis looks into the establishment of Indonesian AID and what the policies regarding its establishment can tell us about Indonesia’s perspective of itself as a donor of international development aid.
