Abstract
In today's rapidly evolving digital age, organizations are continually challenged to seam- lessly integrate digital systems into their operations and works. This thesis examines the criti- cal role of internal leadership communication in facilitating user adoption of digital systems within large international organizations, using IKEA as a case study. In today's rapidly evolving digital age, organizations are continually challenged to seam- lessly integrate digital systems into their operations and works. This thesis examines the criti- cal role of internal leadership communication in facilitating user adoption of digital systems within large international organizations, using IKEA as a case study. Grounded in transforma- tional leadership theory plus strategic listening, this research explores how leaders' communi- cation styles and behaviors influence employees' acceptance and utilization of digital systems. The study highlights the importance of aligning digital system benefits with organizational values and vision, demonstrating that transformational leadership communication can effec- tively drive digital adoption by fostering a supportive and engaging organizational culture. Through qualitative interviews with team leaders and members within high-maturity teams at IKEA, the findings reveal that effective internal communication strategies, coupled with strong leadership commitment to organizational values, significantly enhance user adoption of digital systems. This research contributes to the understanding of the interplay between lead- ership communication and digital system adoption, offering practical insights for organiza- tions aiming to navigate the complexities of digital transformation.
