Abstract
Collective bargaining agreements conceptualizes a major part of the construction of employment conditions for the Swedish labour market. However, the industry of elite football has historically not fully embraced the complete extent of this method of structuring employment. However, in 2023 the key stakeholders in Swedish women’s elite football, SFS, EFD, Unionen, AGA, individual players and clubs, reached an agreement, namely AED. As a CBA in this case, and HRM in general, are both concepts that can be used to balance and manage stakeholders’ interests, this study will analyze what outcomes, possibilities and challenges AED have in relation to the clubs in Damallsvenskan’s HRM work. By conducting a qualitative study through interviews... (More)
Collective bargaining agreements conceptualizes a major part of the construction of employment conditions for the Swedish labour market. By conducting a qualitative study through interviews with key stakeholders, this research mapped the perception of the agreement. Created by an integration of the theoretical review that was inspired by the empirical findings, a comprehensive framework of theories about stakeholders, the HRM components security, performance and employer-employee relations, and CBAs, was created to highlight the complexity of mediating opposing interests. The complexity of CBAs was consistently evident throughout the study, as our key findings indicate that CBAs function as multifaceted constructs that can complement, direct, or be directed by HRM. The synthesized framework constructed in this study, as well as the empirical findings that inspired the creation and confirmed the relevance, can be utilized in further studies that address the use of CBA in industries marked by insecure employment and a volatile context.
