Abstract
This thesis critically examines the Swedish cement industry, comprised of Heidelberg Materials Cement Sverige AB (HMCS), through a discourse analysis of their public communications i.e. press releases, articles and web pages. The aim is to research what discourses HMCS participates in and how they participate in different discourses in regards to their sustainability work. The Swedish cement industry depends on limestone quarrying - which takes place in Site, Gotland. The thesis concerns how HMCS justifies quarrying and a large release of carbon dioxide despite effects on nature and the climate.
