- Abstract (Swedish)
- This thesis investigates the possibility of shortening setup times for the hardware testing rigs at BorgWarner’s Landskrona location. All the test rigs in question use the same measurement and control software, NI VeriStand. NI VeriStand is a data acquisition and control software created by National Instruments. This software needs a certain file, a system definition file,to coordinate the communication with the rigs. This software needs a certain file, a system definition file,to coordinate the communication with the rigs. Constructing working versions of these files can take up to several days since the process is very prone to errors.
To achieve shorter setup times, a program that aimed to automate the creation of system definition files was implemented. The finished program adds the predictable elements of the setup to the file by collecting information such as which rig, CAN database and motors should be used.
The user interacts with the program using a GUI (Graphical User Interface).
The evaluation of the program was done by timing test subjects when creating system definition files and answering questionnaires afterwards. The timed sessions showed that using the newly developed program increased speed and reduced errors. The questionnaires showed a positive attitude toward the program.
Even though the goal of creating a tool that is ready for use was not achieved, a first iteration was produced and it was proved that the test engineers could benefit from this kind of tool. (Less)
