Abstract (Swedish)
Informanterna... (More)

(Less)
Abstract
This is a qualitative interview study based on phenomenology and queer theory where six voice teachers were interviewed about their one-on-one singing lessons with trans individuals. The study researches the teachers’ experience with and knowledge about teaching singing to trans people, how they reflect on gender norms related to singing as well as how they describe the dialogue with their students about voice, singing and identity. The results show that the informants value the dialogue with their students highly and have a great understanding of the importance of adapting their teaching methods to the students’ individual needs and singing aspirations. It also shows that the informants have different perceptions of what parts of their... (More)

The informants reflect on gender norms in the musical theatre scene and how they as teachers approach students aspiring for a career in that industry. (Less)
