- Abstract
- The general topic of study is energy-efficient housing and user habits, with a specific focus on plus-energy houses and the impact of airing habits. The central question addressed is how user habits and airing affect the total energy use, depending on the variations in user habits. Previous research on airing and user habits remains limited. In Sweden, the currently recommended extra energy needed for heating due to airing is 4 kWh/m2 heated floor area and year based on BEN 2 (Boverkets författningssamling, 2017). The methods used in this study include a literature review on the subject and a case study based on a real residential building in Sweden. The building was modelled and simulated using IDA ICE 5.1. Results in this study indicate that the extra energy needed for heating due to airing could be bigger than the current standard values, with an impact of up to 12.5 kWh/m2 of heated floor area and year. Furthermore, the results show that household electricity is the user-related factor affecting total energy use the most. (Less)
