- Abstract (Swedish)
- This thesis contributes to Human Ecology by focusing on the emotional connection humans can have with a species like the loggerhead sea turtle. How such connection can contribute to kinship, thus finding new ways of imagining a world guided by care and mutual respect as seen between the volunteers of the rehabilitation center and the loggerhead sea turtles, who simultaneously contaminate each other through ethics of care and a helping hand/flipper. To do this I have collected 11 informal interviews with the volunteers of the rehabilitation center, many fieldnotes of my time as an intern at the rehabilitation center. Through this internship I have gotten close to the turtles and gotten to know each of them and their personalities, further seen the impact humans have on these turtles and helped care for them. I have analyzed the data through a multispecies world view of contamination. But also used the data to speculate into the life of a loggerhead sea turtle to further create kinship. (Less)
