Debris-free Laser-plasma Soft X-Ray Source for Microscopy.
(1995)- Abstract
- This thesis describes the initial development of a new high-brightness table-top soft X-ray
source suitable for microscopy. The laser-plasma utilises liquid droplets as targets and the
absolute line emission in the water window (A-=2.3-4.4 nm) is typically 1·1012
photons/(stedine·pulse). The narrow bandwidth radiation makes the source suitable for
zone plate optics used in microscopy. Compared to conventional laser-plasma targets the
debris emission is more than 3 orders of magnitude less. By the use of a localised gas
shield the debris deposition may be reduced another order of magnitude.
