Abstract
Informal informationstructures are a reality that needs to be acknowledged by modern organizations emphasising learning and ever changing development. Informal informationstructures are a reality that needs to be acknowledged by modern organizations emphasising learning and ever changing development. Unfortunately most organizations don't have any knowledge or haven't even considered the possibility of such structures existing in their companies. This can cause organisations to experience problems with learning and development. This essay has conducted an investigation into the problems concerning informal informationstructures on organizational and individual learning. The investigation was conducted using two methods of information-gathering, observation followed up with a questionnaire. The first approach was to make sociometric diagrams of all the concerned departments. After the sociometric diagrams and all the statistics from the observation was gathered and analysed it was compared to the statistics from the questionnaire. The result shows a complex and ever changing informal informationstructure within the investigated organisation that was unknown to the management. It also showed that the informal informationstructure was efficient and without any misleading or false information concerning organisational information. The investigation further shows a positive influence on organizational learning, originating from the informal informationstructure. The question of power that the informal informationstructure can involve hasn't been investigated in any length. However the results show a support for the idea that certain key persons have a major influence and thereby power over the informationflow within the organization. (Less)
