This part was a repetition of an earlier research directed towards a selection of the Swedish population done by Lars Tornstam (1981). The results of this research concluded that the most outstanding misconception about old people was that retirement pensioners often felt lonely. The same results were concluded in the research done in 1981. A part from that there were differences between the two rapport's in regards to which misconceptions that were most outstanding. The results also showed that immigrants with a Muslim background had a relative positive view on elders and old people's situation in Sweden. One saw it as important to take part of the old people's life experience and one had a great confidence for the treatment and care of elderly that we have today. (Less)
