Israeli children are from their earliest school year taught the importance of serving in the army when they grow older. They grow up in a society based on military principles and where cooperation between the Department of Defense and the Ministry of Education is extensive. The question is how children are affected by the constant influence of the military principles in everyday life and how is the recruiting done by the IDF? In this paper, it became clear that “soldier” does not always mean a fighting person, “recruitment” does not mean always having to actively be part of the army and the “children” does not always mean children.
