We are today living in the age of the Internet. It grows fast and things that we used to find on the streets have today shipped and are instead also a part of the phenomenon we like to call the Internet.

The purpose of this thesis is to elucidate the issues and opportunities of blogging and study how field assistants can use social forums and blog reading as a method in their work with prevention and outreach work.
The method that has been used in order to fulfill the purpose of the thesis and issues of question is a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews. These have been done with field assistants and the blogs have gone through a document analysis.

Abstract

The result of the study shows that teenagers can benefit from the comments being left on their page and bring them a sense of empowerment. Also it has been shown that the field assistants use facebook.com as a platform for their work and some of them use it in both their outreach and prevention work with young people.
