Reports show that there is an increasing demand for social activity from the elders in elderly care and that people with learning disabilities are being discriminated from the open labour market. To meet the staff requirements of the elderly care year 2030 one out off three students that starts high school would need to study community care. The focus of this paper is to examine what representatives for pensioners and people with learning disabilities associations think about having people with learning disabilities as part of the staff in elderly care. Through a semi structured interview form six representatives from different associations were asked questions about their thoughts on the topics: people with learning disability as a part of the staff in elderly care & what the core issues for each association are. The study shows that all representatives are mainly positive to a development where people with learning disabilities are integrated in the open labour market. However some tasks are cautioned and restricted such as medication management and that they can’t replace ordinary staff with medical expertise. (Less)
